This lesson will teach you the correct boxing stance. It's a boxing skill that typically takes a little time to master, but it's vitally important that you get it right. Without a great stance you cannot build an effective boxing style. It's as simple as that.
The boxing stance is designed to allow fluid and powerful punching, whilst at the same time enabling a solid defence coupled with superb mobility.

Key Points
- Keep feet slightly more than shoulder width apart.
- Keep front foot on a 45 degree angle.
- Keep toe of front foot in line with heel of back foot.
- Remain on the balls of both feet.
- Slightly bend the knees.
- Align front and rear shoulders to point at the opponent (i.e. stand side-on, not square-on).
- Keep hands at cheek level, with palms turned inwards.
- Hold hands in a loose fist.
- Look through eyebrows and lower chin to the chest.
- Keep body weight central, or slightly on the back leg.
